SaltStack overview

SaltStack File Server, part of the Salt Project's configuration management system, enables users to share files across systems efficiently. The system hosts files on Salt Masters and makes them accessible to Salt Minions, supporting multi-tier file structure and various backends (e.g., Git, HTTP, and S3) to meet diverse file storage needs. Its event-driven design allows real-time updates to configurations and system states. SaltStack File Server’s built-in reactor system can automatically respond to these events, making it ideal for complex, self-healing IT environments.

SaltStack requirement

Software Requirements:- Windows: Windows Server 2016+; Python 3.6+. macOS: macOS 10.14+ with Python 3.6+. Linux: Red Hat, Ubuntu, or CentOS (varies by specific Salt package) with Python 3.6+. Hardware Requirements:- Processor: 1 GHz or faster. RAM: Minimum 2 GB (4 GB recommended for larger environments). Storage: 10 GB for the Salt Master; Minions typically require less.
